The Importance of Winter Prep

Winter is one of the best times to get ahead of your ‘competition’, especially if they’re not doing what they need to do to be getting ready for the spring season.

While the majority of high school players will have spent the fall working on their strength and their speed, instead of maintaining that over the winter they’ll likely stop working out altogether.

So it’s really important to keep working and maintain whatever you built during the fall; you’re not necessarily trying to gain muscle mass, you’re just trying to keep it.

So you need to be aware of your nutrition, your diet, your workout cycle, and you need to make sure you’re getting enough rest.

You also need to make sure you’re taking time to work on your skills, whether that be in the cage, on the mound or on the field, so when you turn up the spring tryouts, you’re ready to play at 100%

The TRPD winter program is designed to make sure you’re getting all the reps you need to be ready for spring season. When you show up to that first tryout, you’ll be ready to go, whereas a lot of other players may be using those first few practice sessions to get rid of the winter rust. A lot of decisions are made by coaches in those first couple of practice sessions. so the more prepared you are, the better position you’ll be in. And once you’re in the lineup is a lot harder to get out of it!
